MINI6301 Pastoral Ministry
MINI6301 Pastoral Ministry examines the wide-ranging roles and responsibilities of ministers leading local congregations. Coursework surveys essential duties including ecclesiology, liturgics, homiletics, spiritual nurture, crisis care, life milestones, administration, team development, and community engagement.
This course provides a comprehensive overview of diverse competencies needed for shepherding congregation members and overseeing church health.
Students will:
- Examine biblical models of pastoral leadership and care
- Learn core responsibilities and functions of a lead minister
- Apply integrated pastoral ministry philosophy to ecclesial case studies
- Develop essential skills for common situations facing ministers

Dr. Bob Ellis
Dr. Ellis’ teaching career began at HSU in 1984. He joined the faculty of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1986, and then returned to HSU as part of the Logsdon faculty in 1996.
